What is TMJ / TMD?

TMJ is the acronym for Temporomandibular Joint, the joint that connects the jaw to the skull and helps you open and close your mouth with ease. TMD is the acronym for Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction and describes problems with your jaw and the muscles in your face. If you develop any problems with the TMJ joint, you may experience TMD symptoms (ie: pain, discomfort, clicking) around the face, neck, and within the mouth and it is important to seek treatment before symptoms worsen.
